PaPa is Tying the Knot!

current mood: surprised

PaPa is getting married!  Who would've ever thought?!  Andy talked to him last night and he said he sounded really happy.  He's changed so much since he met Renee.  His conversations with Andy are more upbeat and cheerful.  We couldn't be more thrilled for him!  We got to meet Renee back in May and we loved her.  And even better, our girls loved her!  I really wish the best for them.

With school being over for me I headed up to Michael's in search of my summer project and it is making keepsake boxes.  The first one I have made is for Samara for her birthday.  Here are some pics.

A Drama Moment-My World is Upside Down

March 13th, 2009 (04:38 pm)
moody

current mood: moody

My whole world seems topsy turvy.  Okay it really isn't but I guess I feel like a bunch of things are going on and no results.  For instance, our storm door is hanging from one hinge and we decided to not only replace it but get a new front door as well.  We ordered the doors this past weekend but had to wait til today to have someone come out and measure our doorway.  Then they tell me it will be another couple weeks before it will be finished.  And that's fine but in the mean time I have this crappy storm door that we try to avoid using so we go out the back door but now with all this rain we have to use the front door.  And that's another thing as soon as I was enjoying being outside working on the garden it freaking rains and it rains and it rains!  Will it ever stop?  Will I ever see the sunshine again?  This weather is making me feel ill.  And of course, I have this stomach issue that I still have no answers to.  I went to get the sonograms done today but it takes 24-48 hours to write it up and give it to my doctor.  That means I have to deal with this all weekend until Monday or Tuesday.  And I just want this to be over.  If I need surgery then let's get with it!  Just put me under and fix me up.  And then the one thing I've been looking forward to getting done (bathroom remodel) starts on Monday and I'm kinda dreading it now since I don't know how I will feel and these things always take longer than they say.  And who wants some stranger walking through their house when they feel sick?  I just wanna curl up in a ball and sleep if off until someone can tell me what is wrong.  I guess everything else wouldn't bother me so much if I just knew that I was okay or if I knew what it was and what I need to get better.

A Kid's Conversation

current mood: giggly

Here's a typical conversation I hear around my house.

Sami:  Ew!  My big toe smells!

Sophie:  Yuck!

Sami:  Smell it!

Sophie:  No thank you.

Sami:  Come on, smell it!

Sophie:  No!

Sami:  Just do it!

Sophie:  No!

Sophie: Triple please!

Sophie:  Ew!  (gives it a sniff)

Sami:  What does it smell like?

Sophie:  You!!!

Sami: Heh, heh!  (she's obviously amused)

K-I-S-S-I-N-G

February 17th, 2009 (04:51 pm)

Oh my!  We went through this with Sophie and now it's Sami's turn.  Apparently, she has not one but two admirers at school.  Little David and little Coby are infatuated with my sweet darling.  They hunt her down during recess and give her kisses and hugs.  It seems they are both competing for her attention.  Good thing she's a fast runner!  Ugh, what is a mom to do!

Bang and Bangs

January 12th, 2009 (08:40 am)
lazy

current mood: lazy

It was another busy weekend.  I have no idea where the time went.  But it was a good one.  We only had one minor incident to complain about.  On Sunday, we set out to run some errands and while we were at a stop sign the guy behind us ran into us.  Lucky for us Andy's Saturn was just fine.  It's mostly plastic on the exterior and will just pop back out.  The driver had some scratches on his Honda but really no damage.  So all that was fine except Andy hit his face on the steering wheel.  When we were at the stop sign he leaned forward to see if anyone was coming around the corner since we were at an angle and on a hill and at impact his face got smacked.  So now he has to walk around with a swollen black eye.  The kids were also alright.  They were just a little stunned.

On a different note, Sophie and Sami both got haircuts.  They got bangs!  They're like little twinkies!  They look so cute!  Sami has had bangs in the past so I knew she could pull them off but Sophie has never had them so we took  a chance and they look great on her.  Sophie now looks like that little Emily Strange character and a little like a younger version of Jessica Alba.  She was so excited to go to school this morning and show all her friends!

Christmas is Exhausting

December 25th, 2008 (06:50 pm)
lazy

current mood: lazy

I am so exhausted.  We came home from Keith and Sherrie's today and I went straight for my pajamas and it was only 5:00.  We left a little early and missed out on dessert but I was starting to feel like crap due to my freaking allergies.  I swear EVERYTHING is bothering me.  If I even think of a cat, I'm sneezing!  Usually if I take my allergy medicine then I'm fine but today is different and I'm hoping I don't wake up tomorrow with a cold.  So we'll so how I feel in the morning but tonight I'm just going to lounge around the house and play with my new toys and watch a movie and drink some hot coffee to soothe my sinuses.  As for dinner, I'm thinking we'll eat chocolate and have some CM tamales.  Yum!

Anthropologie!

October 29th, 2008 (12:42 pm)

As we drove to Boo at the Zoo last night, we saw the construction going on across from University Park Village and next to Silver Fox.  And to my delight, Anthropologie will be there in the fall of 2009.  Yey!  This store is way too expensive for me but I'll look forward to checking out their sales!  Their clothes are so cute and they have the coolest vintage style home furnishings.

Texas Wesleyan!

October 15th, 2008 (01:43 pm)
excited

current mood: excited

Today I went and visited Texas Wesleyan University.  I've only driven by it once before with Andy so I was a little nervous of going up there on my own, well with Sami in tow.  Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the school and the neighborhood have been awarded a grant to fix up the area.  There are a lot of buildings and shops surrounding the school that have been abandoned for so long.  They are still in the early process of cleaning it up but it is reminiscent of small town shoppes.  Apparently they will be putting in a coffeeshop, a bakery and a bookstore for starters.  As for walking around the campus I felt completely safe.  It's crazy how different it seems just a few blocks away.  The school just seems tucked away from the rest of the neighborhood.  I've checked out their crime rate and it is surprisingly low.

My counselor was really nice and very informative.  She gave me my evaluation worksheet and I really don't have much to take.  There were 3 classes besides finishing up my Geology that she said I could try to finish at TCC but after checking the classes available for spring it doesn't look like they will be available as online courses that semester.  So next semester I may just be taking Geology ll.  Those classes may just have to wait til I get to Wesleyan. Oh and get this!  Since my grades are good I qualify for a scholarship at around $4500 and since I'm a Phi Theta Kappa member I could get another $600.   That would help out so much!  Yey, grades!

So now all I have to do is finish this semester and apply in January!  I'm so excited!  I just can't believe I'm about to do this.  I really never thought I'd go back school, let alone finish!  I know I still have a long ways to go but just getting to the point of transferring and getting so close to getting my Associate of Arts lets me know that I've already come so far.  And that I haven't quit and don't plan on it either.  Anyways Andy wouldn't let me!  Ha!  He says he doesn't mind handing over the breadwinner title and taking on the stay-at-home super dad role!  He's too cute!
